ASE is a comprehensive and robust data management product with a long history dating back to the late 1980s. ) announced today the receipt of a technology upgrade order from the US Government for eight fixed-site CargoSearch(tm) systems along the Southwest Border of the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . The order provides for the upgrade of the systems to a Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (tm) platform, increasing operational effectiveness and networking capabilities. These improvements will be completed over the next eighteen months in the CargoSearch installed base, and will be incorporated into the remaining system still to be delivered.

The CargoSearch system is part of AS&E's family of cargo and vehicle inspection systems.
