American Red Cross Acknowledges The Gambrinus Company for its Donations to Hurricane Katrina and Rita Relief Effort.

In addition to its $100,000 donation to the Red Cross, right after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, Gambrinus assembled a team consisting of headquarter and field sales personnel. With advice from its respective local beer wholesalers, the team identified charitable organizations as recipients of an additional $200,000 donation to the affected communities.

The $200,000 donation was distributed to local chapters of the United Way in Texas and Mississippi. In Louisiana, donations were made both to the local United Way and Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife. . In addition, the Spoetzl Brewery donated canned water to the relief effort in New Orleans.

The Gambrinus Company is an importer of beers from Grupo Modelo of Mexico and Moosehead Breweries of Canada, and brewer of Shiner, Bridgeport, Pete's, and Trumer Pils.
