 blood, Knott's resident Halloween Haunt monsters will join Elvira in actually donating blood for this worthwhile cause. In addition, Knott's Scary Farm is offering one free $39 ticket to its 26th Annual Halloween Haunt for the first 100 people donating blood that day.

In addition to Elvira and Knott's Scary Farm monsters, Jack Falfas, Knott's vice president and general manager, will be giving blood at the drive tomorrow.

Recently announcing that Southern California's blood shortage has reached crisis levels, the Red Cross currently has less than 1% of its desired inventory of O+ blood, 8% of O- blood, 0% of B+ blood, 0% of B- blood, 11% of A+ blood and 3% of A- blood.

The Monster Blood Drive is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Red Cross West Los Angeles Center, located at 11355 Ohio Avenue in West Los Angeles (enter off Sawtelle, north of Ohio Ave.).

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in good health and not at risk for HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome . Donors must make an appointment and complete the donation process before receiving the free Halloween Haunt ticket.

Tickets to the 26th Annual Halloween Haunt are now on sale at Knott's and TicketMaster outlets. The event kicks off Oct. 2 and runs on 16 selected nights through Nov. 1, 1998. A scare event, the event is not recommended for kids under 12.
