American Re Name Changed to 'Munich Re America'.


PRINCETON, N.J. -- Munich Reinsurance America Munich Reinsurance America (also called Munich Re America), formerly known as American Re Corporation before September 2006,[1] is one of the top providers of property & casualty reinsurance in the US (along with General Re). It is a subsidiary of Munich Re. , Inc. announced that it has changed its name from American Re-Insurance Company effective September 5, 2006. The name of the holding company, American Re Corporation, has changed to "Munich Re Munich Re AG, in German Münchener Rück AG (ISIN: DE0008430026), is the world's second largest reinsurance company with over 5,000 customers in 160 countries and has its headquarters in Munich, Germany.  America Corporation."

Munich-American RiskPartners will also use the Munich Reinsurance America name, and the division will be known as "Specialty Markets."
