American Railcar Industries, Inc. Chairman and Majority Shareholder Carl C. Icahn Makes Contribution.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- American Railcar Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARII) ("ARI") today announced that the Company's Chairman and majority stockholder, Carl C. Icahn, has contributed to the Company's funds to pay the weekly payroll and fringe benefits which will bridge the gap until the Company and its insurance provides funds to continue to pay full wages and benefits to all employees working for the tank car operations at Marmaduke, Arkansas.

This commitment and contribution by our majority shareholder reinforces the value placed upon our dedicated, hard working people.

The Company is still assessing storm damage at its Marmaduke tank car plant and is developing plans to restart production as soon as possible. Until then, the Company will seek to provide employment opportunities to displaced Marmaduke employees in other nearby facilities.
