American Radio Systems reports strong fourth quarter results.BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1997--American Radio Systems Corp. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange : AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) A device used to image materials at the atomic level. AFMs are used to solve processing and materials problems in electronics, telecom, biology and other high-tech industries. ) yesterday reported significant increases in revenues and broadcast cash flow. For the fourth quarter of 1996, net revenues jumped 129.2 percent to $64.4 million from $28.1 million during the same period in 1995. Broadcast cash flow (before net local marketing agreement fees) increased 119.4 percent to $22.6 million from $10.3 million. On a same station basis for the fourth quarter of 1996, net revenues increased 14 percent and broadcast cash flow grew 22 percent. For the year ended Dec. 31, 1996, net revenues increased 82 percent to $178 million from $97.8 million in 1995, while broadcast cash flow (before net local marketing agreement fees) increased 85.3 percent to $58 million from $31.3 million. These increases resulted from improved radio station operations in virtually all of the company's markets and from the impact of station acquisitions. Steve v. t. 1.
