American Radio Systems enters into acquisition agreement for WBLK-FM Buffalo (DePew), New York.

) announced today that it had agreed to acquire WBLK-FM in Buffalo (DePew), N.Y. for consideration aggregating approximately $8,000,000.

Consummation of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  and would not be permitted under the current rules of the FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  because American already owns two FM stations (WYRK-FM and WRCH-FM) in the Buffalo market. However, if the telecommunications bill recently passed by Congress is signed into law, American would be permitted to consummate the transaction.

Steve Dodge, chairman of American Radio Systems, said, "We are pleased to have been able to reach an agreement with Frank Lorenz to purchase his fine station. WBLK complements our Buffalo group nicely, and we look forward to working with Frank on a smooth transition."
