American Quantum Cycles Inc. Announces Initial EPA Testing Results.MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1998--American Quantum Cycles Inc. (OTC OTC See: Over-the-counter. OTC See over-the-counter market (OTC). BB:AMQC) Monday announced the initial results for the "Q2" motorcycle EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid. EPA abbr. eicosapentaenoic acid EPA, n.pr See acid, eicosapentaenoic. EPA, n. certification. AMQC has had one of its Q2 motorcycles in testing at an EPA-approved testing station in Ft. Worth, Texas with excellent results thus far. The Q2 is undergoing 49 state certification (not including California, the most stringent state) initially, and has completed roughly 4,000 km of the required 15,000 km open road test. The 15,000 km test is the longest and most demanding of the emission tests. Motorcycles that pass this test are awarded permanent certification. Shorter tests result in certification being awarded for the following year only. Richard K. Hagen, chairman and chief executive officer, stated: "Pursuit of the 15,000-km test reflects our confidence in our motorcycle and its 4-valve engine. Test drivers retained by the Texas Station are driving the Q2 on multiple shifts through a carefully designed loop of varying road and terrain conditions. "All of the interim testing shows results which are safely below the minimum required emission standards. The 49-state test is expected to be completed in mid-March and AMQC is fully confident of certification for the 4-valve engine and Q2 cruiser motorcycle. AMQC has commenced testing of a second Q2 motorcycle for the 50 state certification (including California) this month with successful certification expected."
