), a vertically integrated manufacturer and logistical supplier of pallets, announced today that it is adding four high speed production saws which will allow APL (A Programming Language) A high-level mathematical programming language noted for its brevity and matrix generation capabilities. Developed by Kenneth Iverson in the mid-1960s, it runs on micros to mainframes and is often used to develop mathematical models.  an additional 30,000 board feet of pallet lumber per day, and a new pallet machine to increase pallet production at its Blacksburg facility to keep pace with customer demand for wood pallets.

APL's Chief Executive Officer, Timothy R. Bumgarner, commented that pallet sales have been brisk and the need for pallets continues to grow. "Every pallet we make is sold, so it was an easy decision to make the six-figure expenditure for equipment that will increase our production and revenue. Since some of our pallet production comes from the reclamation of remnant material that previously would have been sold as chips at a lower price, much of the revenue increase will drop to the bottom line. Currently, the income difference from recycling remnant material is roughly equal to the payroll at the Blacksburg plant."

Mr. Bumgarner continued. "Recently, in one week we made 35,000 board feet of pallet lumber out of material that most other sawmills would have sold as chips. The new equipment will enable us to exploit this resource with even greater efficiency."

The saws used in such an installation are generally of three types: the circular saw, which consists of a disk with teeth around its edge; the band saw, which  operations, but the Company currently is negotiating management and logistics contracts to supply and manage the customers' complete pallet needs.
