The Company reported revenue of $9.65 million, a 63.4% increase over first quarter 2004 revenue of $5.91 million. American Oriental had operating income of $3.02 million, an increase of 91.1% over operating income for the 2004 first quarter of $1.58 million. AOBO's first quarter results demonstrated that the acquisition of Heilongjiang Songhuajiang Pharmaceutical Limited ("HSPL HSPL High-Speed Perceptual Learning ") has contributed significantly to both revenue and earnings. Through this acquisition, AOBO now offers a broader range of medicinal products in China, such as Shuanghuanglian Lyophilized ly·oph·i·lize

"We continue to rapidly grow our product lines and distribution capabilities, both organically and through acquisition," said Tony (Shujun) Liu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Oriental Bioengineering, Inc. "Recently, we entered into a letter of intent to acquire Heilongjiang Qitai Pharmaceutical Limited ("HQPL"), a leading Chinese distributor of pharmaceuticals. The transaction will provide us, for the first time, with the ability to distribute our products throughout China because of HQPL's strong wholesale and retail distribution network, which should serve as a catalyst for future growth. We believe we are ideally positioned to continue to rapidly increase revenue and earnings."
