) 1997 "Safety in Seas" award, recognizing AOD See HD DVD.  for its significant contribution to the safety of human life in the development of ocean energy resources during calendar 1996. AOD becomes the first company in the 20-year history of the award to earn this honor in consecutive years, and is only the second company to earn the award twice.

AOD earned the Safety in Seas Award based on its employee-owned Self-esteem, Management action, Accountability, Responsibility and Training ("SMART(SM)") process. SMART(SM) is a component of AOD's Safe Operations Process.

The Safety in Seas award is sponsored by Compass Publications, publisher of Sea Technology Magazine, and was announced by its president Charles Bussmann at NOIA's 25th Annual Meeting Monday night.
