), announced today that Ronald J. Grajewski and Marek Kupczyk, GM Truck Group Engineering, Pontiac, MI, have been selected to receive GM's "Boss Kettering" Award, the top technical honor at General Motors Corporation (NYSE NYSE

:GM), for their work on the GM SkyNet project.

AMCI developed the technology for the project's vehicle tracking and data communication system, announcing on January 30, 2001, the production release of the second phase of GM SkyNet.

The GM release stated that the BK Award was presented to Grajewski and Kupczyk for: "GM SkyNet: Satellite-Based Vehicle Data Acquisition System -- The auto industry's first low earth orbit (communications) low earth orbit - (LEO) The kind of orbit used by communications satellites that will offer high bandwidth for video on demand, television, and Internet communications. , satellite-based vehicle tracking and data acquisition system. Bacon: "With the GM SkyNet system installed in the vehicle, from the desktop and using only a web browser The program that serves as your front end to the Web on the Internet. In order to view a site, you type its address (URL) into the browser's Location field; for example, www.computerlanguage.com, and the home page of that site is downloaded to you. , GMTG's staff can see where the vehicle is located on a map, view engine start and stop events, and communicate directly with the vehicle's onboard data network. The ability to have affordable worldwide wireless communication with the electronic modules in the vehicle is revolutionary. Near real-time access to vehicle diagnostic and operating data opens up all kinds of pre- and post-production opportunities."
