- AMIDiag(R) 6.0 provides complete PC hardware diagnostics

testing capability for today's technology

American Megatrends American Megatrends Incorporated (AMI) is a Georgia, USA based hardware company that creates PC hardware and firmware. It was founded in 1985 by the current chairman and president, S. Shankar.  Inc. (AMI) announced today that AMIDiag(R) 6.0, a complete system level PC diagnostics package, is now available. This latest release offers the most advanced computer diagnostics and system information available today. AMIDiag 6.0 also provides complete hardware diagnostics for today's technology.

AMIDiag 6.0's advanced features include CPU CPU

This release also includes testing for Y2K See Y2K problem and Y2K compliant.

It provides a direct connection between the card and memory, and only one AGP slot is on the motherboard.  video, as well as multicycle batch and enhanced memory including SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them.  (SPD (Serial Presence Detect) The method used by DIMM memory modules to communicate their capacity and features to the computer. Data such as manufacturer, size, speed, voltage and row and column addresses are stored in an EEPROM chip on the module. ). In addition to these expanded test capabilities, the improved menu driven user interface provides more efficient navigation and test operation. These improvements in testing capabilities and user interfaces strengthen the power of AMIDiag while retaining testing capability with legacy hardware.

"With AMIDiag's ease of use and powerful feature set, users are equipped to accurately diagnose their PCs," said Mark Huffman, Software Sales Director at AMI. "The ability to take preventative measures by testing hardware components before they fail allows users to save time and money over the life of their computer."

The upgrades and improvements incorporated into this latest version of AMIDiag have set the standard for all other diagnostic programs. AMIDiag 6.0 provides a professional suite of system level diagnostics coupled with an easy to use interface and adds a new Module Update feature that can incorporate technology modules as they advance. "The new Module Update feature allows users to apply test module updates, like new CPU speeds, without moving to a program's next release," Huffman added.

AMIDiag 6.0's improved test capabilities allow computer field technicians and support personnel to reduce the occurrence of No-Trouble-Found (NTFs) when troubleshooting computer system hardware. False NTFs are a significant issue in customer technical support arenas and can potentially damage customer confidence in the computer manufacturer's ability to support their equipment.

"The system information provided by AMIDiag 6.0 is a collection of all aspects and operating parameters within the computer system," said Fabio Parodi, AMIDiag Project Manager at AMI. "This information is extremely valuable because it provides an excellent starting point for fault isolation and analysis."

Concurrent with the improved testing capabilities and technologies supported in AMIDiag 6.0 is the ability to provide explicit system hardware and firmware configuration information.
