American Megatrends American Megatrends Incorporated (AMI) is a Georgia, USA based hardware company that creates PC hardware and firmware. It was founded in 1985 by the current chairman and president, S. Shankar.  Inc. (AMI), the leading developer of innovative BIOS solutions worldwide, today announced the addition of AMIBIOS8, a high-end modular firmware solution, to its extensive line of products.

Building on the strength of AMIBIOS, AMIBIOS8 offers scalable firmware that fully supports the newest x86 based See x86-based system.  processors and the latest technology initiatives.

AMIBIOS8 introduces an innovative modular design In the context of systems engineering, modular design — or "modularity in design" — is an approach aiming to subdivide a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems to drive multiple functionalities. , aimed at facilitating development and customization as well as to increase scalability:

-- Single link architecture - Basic modules are linked together

to simplify inter-module communication.

-- Table driven Post (Power on self-test) - The POST steps are

structured according to a table order - The addition of a

customized process or improvement file is faster and easier.

-- Silicon Module Separation - Improves the correspondence

between the BIOS functionality and the silicon responsible for

that function on the motherboard.

AMIBIOS8 provides firmware solutions from embedded computing platforms to mission-critical servers and suits the needs of a variety of applications such as consumer electronics, industrial PCs, telecommunication servers, internet/appliance servers and web access devices.

"It is our goal to provide the highest quality BIOS solution, scalable across all industry segments," said Mike Shields, manager, software sales. "Customers will have the ability to purchase only those modules they need, therefore making AMIBIOS8 the cost-effective decision for all."

The Visual Development Environment, which ships with AMIBIOS8, provides an enhanced user experience and intuitive feel to the design and development of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  solutions - and provides a faster time to market for the product. AMIBIOS8 ships with built-in high-end features such as an internal debugger, remote manageability and configurable I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device.
