"With its new 3U NAS and JBOD line, AMI continues to provide new mid-range products for the vital NAS marketplace. Designed for leading server integrators, AMI's StorTrends products provide an incredible competitive advantage with their low form factors, incredible speed and great price," said Michael Patellis, AMI national sales manager.

"Both the StorTrends 1312 and the recently announced StorTrends 1108 products were designed from the ground up as NAS storage solutions, always keeping in mind the basic requirements of NAS: ease of use, simple setup and simple management," said Rodney Damen, senior program manager for storage and server subsystems.

StorTrends 1312-J, JBOD

The StorTrends 1312-J is AMI's new 3U Ultra160 SCSI storage solution with 12 hot swappable drive bays. Its redundant features include three hot swappable power supplies and two hot swappable dual unit fans. The chassis also includes two AMI backplanes (series 906) with six Ultra160 compliant (Ultra320 ready) slots, single channel and IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) A protocol for monitoring server hardware for temperature, voltage, chassis intrusion, etc. Introduced in 1998 by Intel, HP, NEC and Dell, IPMI defines a standard set of messages for the characteristics of hardware  support.

The StorTrends 1312-J is also available in versions 1312-N and 1312-P, with optional StorTrends 1100 sled with Indium and AMI StorTrends NAS software version 1.0 components.

StorTrends 1312-N, StorTrends 1100

The 1312-N solution includes the StorTrends 1100 sled with AMI's Indium NAS controller, which combines AMI's expertise in board, firmware and operating system environments. The Indium's appliance architecture provides a scalable, high-performance platform that addresses many applications, including NAS, web servers and other embedded environments.

StorTrends 1312-P, StorTrends 1100 and StorTrends software v1.0

The 1312-P features the StorTrends 1100 and AMI's custom-designed NAS software - with Network File Protocols (CIFS (Common Internet File System) The file sharing protocol used in Windows. It evolved out of the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol in DOS, which is why the terms CIFS/SMB and SMB/CIFS are sometimes seen. The word "Internet" in the CIFS name has little relevance. , NFS), Network Transport Protocols (TCP/IP TCP/IP

) and Hardware Health Monitoring. All AMI software resides on a network upgradable flash memory device, which leaves all hard drives 100 percent available for user data.

"AMI is the only company in the industry that provides a complete hardware and software NAS solution designed by a single source," Damen added. "This includes AMI's BIOS, backplanes, motherboard, chassis and software that allows it to carefully address RAS (1) See network access server.

(2) (Remote Access Service) A Windows NT/2000 Server feature that allows remote users access to the network from their Windows laptops or desktops via modem. See RRAS and network access server.
