American Medical Systems Announces New General Manager of BPH Therapy Business.


MINNEAPOLIS -- American Medical Systems, Inc., (AMS) (NASDAQ: AMMD) today announced the appointment of Joe W. Martin to the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager of its BPH Therapy Business.

Martin brings over 25 years of leadership experience in medical products, including capital equipment and surgical products. Most recently, Martin served as the CEO of Milestone Scientific, a leading provider of medical and dental solutions. Prior to Milestone Scientific, Martin spent 13 years at Bayer Healthcare in a variety of leadership positions, including president of the diabetes care division. Before joining Bayer Healthcare, he held leadership positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing, including international roles, during his 12 years in the diagnostics division of Abbott Laboratories.

"Joe brings to AMS a wealth of experience and successful track record of leading medical products businesses similar to our BPH Therapy unit, which has capital equipment with trailing disposable components," said AMS President and CEO Anthony P. Bihl, III. "His ability to focus and execute business strategy in this market makes him a great addition to our AMS team as we continue to grow our BPH Therapy Business."

Martin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing and accounting from the University of Houston. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Gaymar Industries, Inc.

Martin will report directly to the CEO and become a member of AMS' executive management team. Working together with the BPH team already in place, Martin will focus on expanding and maximizing AMS' BPH Therapy Business to its fullest potential.
