American Maize merger.


STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1995--As previously announced, on July 10, 1995, American Maize-Products Company (ASE-AZE) received a proposal from Eridania Beghin-Say, S.A. to acquire the Company at a price of $40 per share in a merger transaction.

In response to recent press articles indicating that the Company and Eridania had already reached an agreement, American Maize announced today that no agreement has been reached at this time. American Maize's Board of Directors has, however, determined to enter into negotiations with Eridania and to explore other alternatives. CS First Boston First Boston Corporation was a New York-based investment bank, founded in 1932 and acquired by Credit Suisse in 1988, when it became 'CS First Boston'. Globally referred to as Credit Suisse First Boston after 1996, the First Boston part of the name was phased out in 2006.  Corporation, American Maize's financial advisor, will assist the Company in its evaluation of the Eridania proposal and other alternatives.
