Business Editors/Hi-Tech Writers

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2002

InPhonic Inc., a leading provider of wireless technology and services, has teamed with The American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The preamble to the organization's constitution, adopted at the convention in St. Louis that same year, expresses its purposes in part as "to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent, the nation's largest veterans service organization, and Military.com, the largest online destination for the military community, to offer mobile phones, service plans and messaging capabilities, to more than 3 million veterans and 50 million members of the American military community.

Under agreements announced today, InPhonic will operate and manage an online store, called American Legion Wireless, featured on the veterans group's Web site (www.legion.org). In addition, The American Legion plans to deploy InPhonic technology to create The American Legion Wireless Network (ALWN), which will broadcast text messages containing American Legion news, event reminders and legislative updates of interest to veterans direct to their mobile phones.

InPhonic will also build and manage a similar online store called Military.com Wireless (www.military.com). Military.com, the online presence of Military Advantage, connects active, reserve, guard, veterans and family members to the lifelong benefits of service, from VA Loans to GI Bill education benefits to civilian jobs that value military experience. Military Advantage has 1.5 million members, more than 1 million newsletter subscribers, and over 1 million unique monthly visitors to the Military.com site.

"InPhonic is proud to support American veterans and military personnel at a time when national defense is so critical and the demands on our service personnel and their families are so great," said InPhonic founder and CEO David Steinberg. "We're excited that our technology will be deployed to help support the military community, and we're particularly gratified that a portion of the proceeds from American Legion Wireless will go directly to support a wide range of benefit programs for veterans."

"Wireless communication has become an increasingly vital part of everyday American life, and we're excited to add this capability to our membership benefits," said American Legion National Commander Richard J. Santos. "We're not only committed to offering veterans and their families the best available deals from the leading wireless carriers and top-name manufacturers, but also to use the technology to bring our membership together in a wireless network."

InPhonic was chosen to build and manage both American Legion Wireless and the Military.com Wireless store after careful reviews of available providers. InPhonic provides a national footprint that covers a geographic area that includes the homes of 98 percent of the U.S. population; offers devices and service from virtually all the wireless carriers; and provides powerful messaging capabilities that will allow both organizations to create a wireless community for its members.

"We're delighted that such important and influential organizations chose InPhonic to build and manage their wireless technology solutions," Steinberg added. "Membership organizations like The American Legion, Military.com, the National Education Association and AOL, which reach millions of loyal members, have been critical to InPhonic's success in building a profitable business."
