The campus will employ a gradual teach-out process, allowing current students the opportunity to complete their programs. The campus will no longer enroll new students.

In December, 2007, American InterContinental University announced that the University had been removed from probation by its accreditor, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is a regional educational accreditation agency for over 13,000 public and private educational institutions ranging from preschool to college level in the southern United States.  (SACS). The Special Committee of the Commission on Colleges of SACS had visited several AIU campuses in October 2007, among them the AIU Los Angeles campus, and had informed AIU officials that its final report would contain no recommendations for further corrective action A corrective action is a change implemented to address a weakness identified in a management system. Nonetheless, said Dr. George Miller, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of American InterContinental University, "the impact of a two-year probation, coupled with the current market for AIU's programs in Los Angeles, is such that the student population at the campus has decreased significantly, and likely will not reach the sustainable level necessary to support the addition of new programs and necessary resources."

During the teach-out period, students will have the opportunity to complete their programs at AIU Online, through a local educational institution or "teach-out" partner, or if neither of those options are appropriate, on campus at AIU Los Angeles. Student services, including career services and financial aid, and access to student records, will be made available on campus while students are present. Upon campus closure, career services will be available to serve all alumni through AIU's main campus in the Atlanta area, as well as being available online. Students and alumni will be updated of the location of student records as appropriate.

"We are committed to fully supporting our students throughout this process," said Greg Washington, President of AIU Los Angeles. "We are deeply grateful for the support of our students, faculty, staff and the community. Our campus will not close until we have ensured that each current student has the opportunity to complete his or her program either on campus, online, or through a teach-out partner."
