American Insulock Produces Environmentally-Friendly Insulock Blocks.

Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, is the city immediately east of Vancouver.
-- American Insulock Inc. (the "Company") announces that it is producing Insulock Blocks using the Company's prototype moulding equipment. Insulock Blocks are insulating concrete forms Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) are stay-in-place formwork for energy-efficient, cast-in-place reinforced-concrete walls.

The forms are interlocking modular units that are dry-stacked (without mortar) and filled with concrete.
for use in the construction of soundwalls and buildings. Insulock Blocks enable contractors to construct soundwalls and buildings that are highly effective at absorbing sound and have an R-30 or R-38 heat insulating value. The Company's Insulock Blocks are unique in that they are made of polyurethane rather than polystyrene (i.e., Styrofoam(R)), which is the material that is used by virtually every other manufacturer of insulating concrete forms. Polyurethane blocks are much stronger and have much higher heat and sound insulating values than polystyrene blocks.

The company's short-term goal is to produce an initial inventory of 5,000-10,000 blocks, which will be kept as inventory at the Company's Mesa, Arizona Mesa is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona and part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale Metropolitan Area. It is the third-largest city in Arizona, after Phoenix and Tucson.

facility in order to ensure prompt delivery for any purchase orders. At present, the Company is negotiating with several firms to take purchase orders for Insulock Blocks.

To manufacture Insulock Blocks, the Company is using a new, environmentally-friendly resin developed by one of the world's leading producers of engineering plastics and polyurethanes. This new resin contains a "zero-ozone depleting" blowing agent. A blowing agent is a gas that is blended in with polyurethane resin. When the mixture is heated past its boiling point boiling point, temperature at which a substance changes its state from liquid to gas. A stricter definition of boiling point is the temperature at which the liquid and vapor (gas) phases of a substance can exist in equilibrium. , the blowing agent causes small bubbles to be formed that make the polyurethane foam up. Polyurethane blowing agents used in the past have been identified by environmentalists and governments worldwide as being harmful to the Earth's ozone layer.

The Company has chosen this new resin in order to conform to the Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete de·plete

This treaty stipulated that the production and consumption of compounds that deplete ozone in the stratosphere, including chlorofluorocarbons chlorofluorocarbons (klōr'əflr`əkär'bənz, klôr'–) (CFCs), organic compounds that contain carbon, chlorine, and fluorine atoms.  (CFCs) and other harmful chemicals, was to be phased out by 2000. Insulock International Inc., a subsidiary of the Company, will be conducting an open house from July 29th until August 2nd. The open house will be held each day at the Company's Mesa, Arizona facility from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. This facility is located at 4811 E. Anyone who is interested in attending should contact the Company's vice-president of engineering, Bob Jamieson, at 602-309-1177.

The Company's core business is the manufacture and distribution of Insulock Blocks, together with the equipment that is used to manufacture these blocks. Insulock Blocks are interlocking interlocking /in·ter·lock·ing/ (-lok´ing) closely joined, as by hooks or dovetails; locking into one another.
