Chartered in 1931, AIP is a not-for-profit corporation aiming to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics and its application to human welfare. AIP began to work from its inception promoting knowledge of science to the general public. The Institute publishes the widely read general-interest magazine Physics Today, in addition to The Industrial Physicist and the electronic journal Applied Physics Letter Online.
