Ron Altoon, the force behind Altoon & Porter Architects, one of the old line firms in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , received the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Service last week from the American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA , California Council.

Altoon's work can be seen all over the city from UCLA's Arthur Ashe Noun 1. Arthur Ashe - United States tennis player who was the first Black to win United States and English singles championships (1943-1993)

History
Prior to its founding in Georgetown, charters had been granted by the Legislature (Texas Congress 1836-1845) to establish four earlier educational institutions:
 School of Law Library.

Though best-known for his work on retail shopping centers, Altoon's ultra-urban designs of tram stations, including Buangkok Station in Singapore and the first stop on a new rail line connecting Hong Kong to Lantau Island, are pure magic.
