American IDC is Poised to Deliver What Consumers Want: TV Channels on the Internet.

HOLLYWOOD -- American IDC Corp. (ACNI:PK) reports that according to a recent conference of Industry Insiders, sponsored by AlwaysOn at Stanford University July 13 - 15, the "Battle for the E Home," is beginning to be waged in earnest.

In the first phase, venture capitalists are looking for "plumbing interoperability and ease of use with wired backbones," says Curt Nichols, VP, Intel Capital, and Director, Digital Home Sector, Intel Capital.

The second level is "new applications and services, new bandwidth content over IP for big screen TV."

The reason for this heightened interest is: "Consumers are buying technologies such as HDTV and home networking at a refresh rate faster than the rate enterprise companies are replacing their IT," says Allen Delattre, Partner, Electronics and High Tech Practice, Accenture.

"ETVHollywood is uniquely positioned to become a leader in providing the new entertainment services consumers want and demand," explains Gordon Lee, American IDC's CEO. "I've spent fifteen years in this field. I have firsthand experience raising capital and writing patent applications for companies such as USA Video and Future Media Technologies.

ETVHollywood's technology is better and less costly to deploy since no other kind of home hardware is required," says Lee.

"In the first place, ETVHollywood's architecture is based on MPEG2 standards, which were co-developed at Future Media Technologies in Los Angeles in 1993, and algorithms which are native to every broadcast and cable station in the U.S., so we can easily accept a 19.5 megabit stream sent over our fiber backbone.

From there we step down the signal to a variable bit rate that can send 500 to 600 kilobits per second to broadband channels, transcoding from MPEG to broadband in real time. This is the highest quality broadband streaming you'll see anywhere (www.ETVHollywood.tv) today," says Lee.

At the AlwaysOn Summit, FCC Chairman Michael Powell, pointed out that the U.S. already has 80% to 90% broadband availability today through DSL, Cable and Wireless technologies provided by a multiplicity of companies.

"The question is who will provide the easiest and most affordable gateway for media and entertainment distribution to make broadband the 'must have' technology over the next few years?

American IDC is destined to be a major player," says Lee. "While we're uniquely positioned to take advantage of the need for high-end services in the broadband marketplace today, we won't be obsolete tomorrow, when fiber optic reaches the actual E Home.'" Lee explains:

"Today our system is already MPEG over IP, so when fiber reaches the ehome of the future, we won't have to step down the stream to 500 kilobits per second any longer, we'll be able to deliver a pure digital stream direct to any HDTV from 'stations,' essentially interactive digitally compressed streams from any properly equipped website to anywhere in the world.

"I call it Broadband Internet Television (BBITV") says Lee, "It's global, it's real technology, and it's working today."

While many companies vested in old technologies may see fiber to the home as a pipe dream, Lee notes that regulators have recently enabled natural gas utilities to run fiber optic through their own natural gas pipe lines.

"The economic incentives are too great for the gas and electric utilities to ignore and we are ready to welcome them with open arms," says Lee.
