American Honda Opens U.S. Power Equipment Headquarters; Larger Alpharetta, Ga., Location Reflects Growing Sales Demand.


ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 1999--

American Honda Motor Co. Inc.'s Power Equipment Division Monday celebrated the grand opening of the division's new headquarters building in Alpharetta.

The new, significantly larger headquarters was developed to accommodate the division's recent sales growth and plans for future growth.

The new facility is home to 100 sales, marketing and administrative associates, and totals 60,000 square feet, including 43,800 sq. ft. of office space and 16,200 sq. ft. of product- evaluation and laboratory-testing space. Construction of the $6 million building was completed in March 1999.

"In 1998, Honda set a new U.S. sales record, selling over 1 million power products and capping a 94-percent sales increase for the past five years," said Wade Terry, vice president of Honda's Power Equipment Division.

"The new Alpharetta facility will help us better meet our current customer needs and future growth, and is convenient to our customer base and our North Carolina-based manufacturing and R&D facilities."
