American Heart Association Kicks off Go Red for Women Movement.Oak Street, Chicago Landmarks "Go Red" Beginning Today CHICAGO -- Too few women realize that heart disease is their No. 1 killer and are taking action to prevent it. But the good news is that heart disease can largely be prevented. The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement encourages women to improve their heart health while taking action to fight women's heart disease. The year-round movement officially kicks off today, February 2, with National Wear Red Day. Employees of Oak Street, Chicago's famed shopping avenue, helped launch Go Red festivities by creating a human heart shape this morning. Throughout February, American Heart Month, Chicago's skyline is making a statement against heart disease by "going red."
