Northern Michigan - or more properly Northern Lower Michigan - is a region of the U.S. state of Michigan, popular as a tourist destination.

The hospital is a member of the Michigan Regional Health system and its medical staff is comprised of physicians from nearly every specialty area in medicine. It was recently named one of HCIA's "Top 100" hospitals for its stroke and cardiovascular programs.

The program's inpatient component uniquely enables hospitals to address the special needs of patients with diabetes, regardless of their reason for admission. The program's outpatient component is designed to help individuals with diabetes develop and practice the self-management skills that will improve their health status and quality of life and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.
