American Greetings Produces Official 1998 Tennessee Governor's Holiday Card; Governor Sundquist Selects an American Greetings Artist for Holiday Card.


CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1998--Governor Don Sundquist Donald Kenneth Sundquist (born March 15, 1936) is an American politician from Tennessee. A Republican, he served as the 47th Governor of Tennessee from 1995 to 2003. Prior to that, he represented Tennessee's 7th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives  and First Lady Martha Sundquist today unveiled the official 1998 Tennessee Governor's holiday greeting card, a watercolor portrayal of the Reflecting Pool

A reflecting pool is a structure often used in memorials. It generally consists of a shallow pool of water, usually quite calm.

The card was manufactured by American Greetings Tennessee manufacturing facility in Ripley. The Reflecting Pool angel, surrounded by beautiful water lilies Water Lilies (or Nympheas) is a series of approximately 250 oil paintings by French Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926). The paintings depict Monet's flower garden at Giverny and were the main focus of Monet's artistic production during the last thirty years , was first placed at the Executive Residence in 1975.

The inside of the card features a color photograph of Governor Don Sundquist, First Lady Martha Sundquist and their family outside in the gardens of the Executive Residence. The inside verse is a quotation from the Book of Psalms, Verse 8 which reads, in part: "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heaven... O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"

American Greetings is an integral part of the Tennessee community, with more than 1,500 associates employed in its manufacturing facilities throughout the state. In addition to Ripley, the Company operates plants in Greeneville and Lafayette.
