American Football: DISMAL ENDING FOR CLAYMORES.

SCOTTISH CLAYMORES
The Scottish Claymores (Scotland in box scores) were an American football team from Scotland. The franchise played in the World League of American Football (later renamed NFL Europe) between 1995 and 2004, alternately playing home games at Murrayfield Stadium,
head coach Jack Bicknell Jack Bicknell (born February 20, 1938) is a retired football coach, most recently known for his long involvement in NFL Europa and it's predecessor, the WLAF.

Jack is nicknamed "Cowboy Jack" because of his love for country music and horse riding.
last night hit back at speculation over his side's future and insisted a new league would be wrong.

Bicknell was reacting to suggestions Claymores might not be around in the near future, with an all-German set-up being touted as a possible alternative.

But after his team's 28-20 defeat in the final week against Cologne Centurions The Cologne Centurions were an American football team that played in NFL Europa. The Centurions began competing in the league in the 2004 season, having replaced the defunct Barcelona Dragons. They played their home games at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.  Bicknell said: 'I want to come back and give the fans a team and success they deserve. This is the best organisation in the league without doubt and I knew that even before I arrived.

'If you want a German league I don't want to be part of it.

'It's important football stays in Scotland and if Germany is what they're talking about it's wrong.'
