 chemicals in their fire retardants. Several forms of PBDE, a chemical fire retardant commonly used in foam furniture called polybrominated diphenyl diphenyl /di·phen·yl/ (di-fen´il) a toxic compound comprising two linked benzene rings, used as a fungistat in containers for shipping citrus fruits.
