"We chose AFS because their Ethernet Over Fiber solution enables us to better meet the growing demand for competitively priced, high bandwidth Internet connectivity. AFS provides a flexible offering that allows us to specify the bandwidth increments we need, and to grow in capacity as our needs change," said Gibson

"The opportunity for AFS to offer metropolitan-wide Ethernet service is being driven by a growing demand for bandwidth in the greater Kansas City area and the cost advantages that can be realized by AFS' customers with our Ethernet based carrier class service." said Bill Ciminelli, AFS Vice President of Network Development and Services.

AFS is offering Ethernet Internet Access (EIA (Electronic Industries Alliance, Arlington, VA, www.eia.org) A membership organization founded in 1924 as the Radio Manufacturing Association. "This service responds to the lack of real fiber based access for a significant percentage of non residential real estate in the Kansas City area and we are particularly pleased to be chosen to partner with CTC, and to enable them to achieve their mission of delivering Internet access at unsurpassed speeds, reliability and value for their end users," added Ciminelli.

The greater Kansas City all-optical network consists of 17,700 fiber miles while capable of providing all optical access connections to the municipalities of Fairway, Kansas City, Leawood, Lenexa, Merriam, Mission, Mission Woods, Overland Park and Westwood.
