, American Farmer illustrates a treasured way of life throughout a wide swath of land.

Mobley, a New York-based photographer who worked with legends like Annie Leibovitz, took three years to travel and photograph 300 farmers in 35 states, including Mississippi, for this wonderful tribute to a lesser-known lifestyle. In his Afterword, Mobley writes, "The agricultural communities of America are made up of modest, hardworking men and women who prize their families, their land, and their heritage above all else."

Each photograph illustrates this sentiment through the kind eyes and worn hands of admirable individuals who live to work the land.--J.B.M.
