American Express Teams with Boys & Girls Clubs of America for Centennial Anniversary; Launches Campaign to Support Clubs on a National and Local Level; American Express to Contribute Nearly $1 Million to Organization.

) today announced a multi-faceted program to support the organization during their Centennial anniversary. The program, including contributions to the national organization as well as local Clubs, will help BGCA to achieve its mission of providing a positive place for kids across the country.

As part of the commitment, American Express will donate up to $750,000 to support the organization's goal of providing safe places for children to learn and grow. From June 1st to July 15th, American Express will donate $0.01 of every transaction made at select merchant locations to BGCA. The program will include merchants from cities with a strong BGCA presence including Atlanta, Houston, New York, Phoenix and San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden . American Express will contribute $5.00 for every Cardmember donation made (up to a total American Express contribution of $25,000) to assist BGCA in providing programs and services that enhance the learning and development of children in disadvantaged circumstances. American Express also recently announced the winners of the "My Club's Future" video contest, a program offering Boys & Girls Clubs across the country the opportunity to submit videos with ideas on how to improve their local chapter. One winner was selected from each of the five designated regions across the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
