American Equity Investment marks growth with IPO.


Life and annuity insurer American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. has registered a $247 million initial public offering of common stock with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, planning to contribute to the capital and surplus of its insurance subsidiaries.

Merrill Lynch Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. (NYSE: MER TYO: 8675 ), through its subsidiaries and affiliates, provides capital markets services, investment banking and advisory services, wealth management, asset management, insurance, banking and related products and services on a global basis.  & Co. will act as the book-running manager for the offering with Advest Inc. acting as co-managing underwriter, American Equity said in a statement.

The registration statement has been filed with the SEC but has not yet become effective, the company said. The company's stock will trade on the New York Stock Exchange New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
