In 1965, when Martin Slutsky founded American Dryer Corp. in Fall River, Massachusetts Fall River is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, in the United States. It is located about 46 miles south of Boston, 16 miles southeast of Providence, Rhode Island and 12 miles west of New Bedford. The city's population was 91,938 during the 2000 census. , the company manufactured two commercial laundry dryer models (20- and 25-lb. capacity) that only cost around $300 each. In 1979, ADC introduced computerized drying. The company's patented computer control system with automatic drying capabilities is the simplest and most efficient available. ADC dryers are microprocessor controlled, for pushbutton push·but·ton

drying and cooling cycles. For example, a user can program the dryer for function A, B, C, D, E or F. Function A can be preset for towels. If a staff person would like to dry towels, he or she presses button A and the towels will be dried to their own specifications.

ADC patented its "Auto Dry" cycle in 1988. This cycle relates to the dryness of the laundry load. The dryer will automatically shut off at different dryness levels. For example, if sheets are to be ironed, they shouldn't be dried completely. The ADC dryer can be programmed to shut off when the sheets remain slightly damp. With ADC's "Auto Dry" cycle, laundry is dried fast and efficiently, saving the facility staff time and money. The finished laundry is also of high quality for the benefit of the residents.
