American Dental Partners Affiliates With North Carolina Dental Group.

WAKEFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2000

American Dental Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADPI) announced today that the Company completed an affiliation with Nathan Bell, DDS, PA, located in North Carolina. Nathan Bell & Associates, a group dental practice with 18 dentists and nine locations in Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, generated approximately $8.5 million of patient revenue in 1999. The group joined the Company's existing affiliate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, University Dental Associates. As a result, University Dental Associates is one of American Dental Partners' larger affiliates with 25 dentists, 11 facilities and more than 100 operatories.

Many of UDA's practicing dentists are faculty members of the Department of Dentistry at Wake Forest University. UDA intends to expand Wake Forest University's dental residency program beyond the current general practice residency, and we have been actively involved in helping UDA identify qualified clinical and academic leadership for a specialty residency program. In addition, Dr. Jesley Ruff, Chief Professional Officer of American Dental Partners, is actively working with UDA towards achieving accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care ("AAAHC"). We look forward to the day when UDA is one of a select group of practices accredited by the AAAHC. Currently there are just eight dental groups accredited by the AAAHC in the United States, four of which are affiliated with American Dental Partners."
