American Dance Festival. (Summer Calendar of Performances).This seventieth-anniversary season of the American Dance Festival The American Dance Festival is a six-week summer festival of modern dance performances, and a school for dance currently held at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. , held June 5-July 19, will be dedicated to its late co-director, Stephanie Reinhart, who was post-humously honored with a Dance Magazine Award for her considerable influence in the dance world (see DANCE MAGAZINE, April, pages 26 and 85). The six-and-one-half-week festival's return guests include the Paul Taylor Dance Company Paul Taylor Dance Company, is a contemporary dance company, formed by Paul Taylor, an American choreographers of the 20th century. One of the early touring companies of American modern dance, the Company has "performed in more than 500 cities in 62 countries"[1] , Pilobolus Dance Theatre, and Shen Wei Shen Wei was a founding member of China’s first contemporary dance company, the Guangdong Modern Dance Company, after performing traditional Chinese Opera for five years with the Hunan State Opera. Dance Arts. The Cloud Gate Dance Theater of Taiwan opens the festival with a U.S. premiere: the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company closes it with a world premiere commissioned by ADF (1) (Application Development Facility) An IBM programmer-oriented mainframe application generator that runs under IMS. (2) (Automatic Document Feeder) A paper stacker that feeds one sheet of paper at a time into the unit. . In the interim, look for Twyla Tharp Dance, France's Compagnie Maguy Marin. India's Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, and the International Choreographers Commissioning program, offering a collection of new modern dance works.
