The National Industry and Commerce Trademark Bureau recognized 64 of the nation's famous trademarks and published the list on its newspaper ("Chinese Industry and Commerce newspaper"). Trademarks were selected based on its prestige and reputation in the marketplace.

In addition to the brands reputation, both sell side operators and consumers must have already adopted the products and regard it as a highly reliable merchandise. These goods must have passed through regulating bodies in order to be recognized.

"The Paris Convention" explicitly stipulated special protection for these famous trademarks and that the intellectual property has great potential and value.

For this evaluation, "Feihe" was the only company (American Dairy, Inc.) being awarded. As of today, American Dairy is only one of four companies from Heilongjiang province to be recognized.
