American Custom Components Receives Initial Order from Tagnology Inc.; ACCM to Begin Production of 100,000 Retail Shelf Price-tag System Units.

) today announced it has received an order for the production of proprietary connectors and subsequent assembly of Tagnology Inc.'s globally patent pending retail shelf price-tag system.

This initial order calls for ACCM to begin production for 100,000 units of the shelf price-tag system.

Production of this system will begin at the company's domestic facility and then move to ACCM's newly acquired plant in the Caribbean. The necessary tooling and molding of the units has already been completed. It is anticipated that production and assembly of this product is scheduled to commence in mid-December 1997.

Tagnology's new shelf price-tag system utilizes Liquid Crystal Displays liquid crystal display (LCD)

Optoelectronic device used in displays for watches, calculators, notebook computers, and other electronic devices. Current passed through specific portions of the liquid crystal solution causes the crystals to align, blocking the passage of light.

This system is intended to save labor costs for mass retailers in the changing of bar codes and price tags. Supermarkets, large format retailers and mega-chains are prime targets for this technology.
