American City Business Journals acquires Hemmings Motor News.American City Business Journals (ACBJ ACBJ American City Business Journals, Inc. ; Charlotte, NC), a unit of Advance Publications (New York), has acquired Hemmings Motor News Hemmings Motor News is a monthly magazine catering to traders and collectors of antique, classic, and exotic sports cars. It is the largest and oldest publication of its type in the United States, with sales of 180,000 copies per month, and is best known for its large classified (HMN HMN Hemmings Motor News ; Bennington, VT) from the family of Hemmings' late publisher and editor, Terry Erhich. No terms of the deal were given. HMN publishes Hemmings Motor News, a monthly magazine with a paid circulation of 223,000 hobbyists and collectors of antique, vintage and special interest cars. The magazine also builds and hosts over 1100 collector car club Web sites. The company also produces two related smaller-circulation magazines and operates a division that publishes books, calendars, and related products featuring old cars. ACBJ said that HMN operations will remain in Bennington. ACBJ is the nation's largest publisher of metropolitan business journals, owning 41 such titles. Under its Street & Smith's unit, it publishes two NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. It held its first race in Daytona Beach, Fla. magazines, five sports annuals and SportsBusiness Journal. |
