The American Chemistry Council (ACC) is in charge of improving the public image of the chemical industry. UNVEILS NEW STATISTICAL INDICATORS; HIGHLIGHTS HOW CHEMISTRY IS ESSENTIAL2 THE U.S. ECONOMY The American Chemistry Council (ACC See adaptive cruise control. ), the trade association for the world's leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry, today unveiled two new statistical indicators - the Chemical Production Regional Index (CPRI CPRI Common Public Radio Interface CPRI Computer-based Patient Record Institute CPRI Central Power Research Institute (India) CPRI Central Potato Research Institute (India) ) and the ChemFactor - to provide greater visibility into the industry's production levels across America as well as detail its contributions to the products people use, enjoy and benefit from every day. "Chemistry is an essential American industry and a major contributor to the economy, accounting for ten cents Ten Cents has several meanings:
About the Indicators: Chemical Production Regional Index (CPRI) The CPRI is a monthly indicator measuring the production levels of the U.S. chemical industry in seven critical regions that are home to the country's largest producers. Updated on the 28th of each month, the CPRI provides a window into the aggregate monthly output of the industry, broken out by regions covering the Northeast, Mid- mid- pref. Middle: midbrain. Atlantic, Southeast, Ohio Valley, Midwest, Gulf Coast and West Coast. ChemFactor ChemFactor is an economic "touch" indicator measuring the percentage that certain goods and items are composed of chemistry and chemistry-derived products. For instance, with 100% of paint production based on chemistry and chemistry-derived products, paint has a ChemFactor of 100. The ChemFactor scores also indicate those industries that are the largest purchasers of chemistry products and dependent on chemistry-led innovations to spur further development. Additional ChemFactor scores include prescription drugs prescription drug Prescription medication Pharmacology An FDA-approved drug which must, by federal law or regulation, be dispensed only pursuant to a prescription–eg, finished dose form and active ingredients subject to the provisos of the Federal Food, Drug, (100), soap (100), tires (62), pantyhose (55) and paper (26). The CPRI and ChemFactor were designed and developed by noted economist, Martha Moore Moore, city (1990 pop. 40,761), Cleveland co., central Okla., a suburb of Oklahoma City; inc. 1887. Its manufactures include lightning- and surge-protection equipment, packaging for foods, and auto parts. of Moore Economics. "The CPRI is an index whose time has come," says Moore. "For too long, economists and market watchers lacked the necessary tools to chart and measure regional chemical industry production." Moore explains "While the CPRI tracks the monthly production figures, the ChemFactor provides a real insight into something we take for granted - the influence of chemistry and chemistry-derived products in the goods and services In economics, economic output is divided into physical goods and intangible services. Consumption of goods and services is assumed to produce utility (unless the "good" is a "bad"). It is often used when referring to a Goods and Services Tax. we use each and every day." "Because this is an industry that helps make 37 million American jobs possible, we wanted to precisely measure and gauge the impact of chemistry in our lives," Moore adds. The ChemFactor provides this information in an easy and memorable way." To learn more about the chemistry industry, as well as the CPRI and ChemFactor, please visit www.americanchemistry.com. About the American Chemistry Council: The American Chemistry Council (ACC) represents the leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry. ACC members apply the science of chemistry to make innovative products and services that make people's lives better, healthier and safer. ACC is committed to improved environmental, health and safety performance through Responsible Care, common sense advocacy designed to address major public policy issues, and health and environmental research and product testing. The business of chemistry is a $516 billion enterprise and a key element of the nation's economy. It is one of the nation's largest exporters, accounting for ten cents out of every dollar in U.S. exports. Chemistry companies invest more in research and development than any other business sector. Safety and security have always been primary concerns of ACC members, and they have intensified in·ten·si·fy v. in·ten·si·fied, in·ten·si·fy·ing, in·ten·si·fies v.tr. 1.
