American Century Investments, Kansas City, Missouri, one of the nation's leading fund families, today announced the selection of DIGEX, Incorporated, an Intermedia Communications company, to manage its Web site at the world's largest dedicated server Web site management facilities in suburban Washington, D.C. American Century's Web site (www.americancentury.com) offers customers applications such as on-line information and trading. The company expects that a significant percentage of its investors will choose on-line access as their primary method of doing business in the future.

American Century is planning to launch several new on-line services, including brokerage services and 401k participant access, based on a proprietary study showing that the number of mutual fund owners who use the Internet nearly doubled in 1997.
