American Century Investments Names Jonathan Thomas to New Executive Vice President Post.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- American Century Investments today announced the appointment of Jonathan Thomas, 42, as executive vice president overseeing the investment management firm's financial and administrative functions, areas that previously had been the responsibility of Robert T. Jackson, the company's retiring chief financial and administrative officer. Thomas, who assumes his new position on Nov. 7, joins American Century from Morgan Stanley, where he served as a managing director and chief operating officer in the investment management division.

In his new role as executive vice president, Thomas will be responsible for all financial matters including portfolio and operations accounting, regulatory financial reporting, budgeting and internal audit. He also will be responsible for key administrative areas including purchasing, information technology, human resources, facilities and real estate. Thomas will join the firm's operating committee -- a senior leadership group comprised of the company's functional business heads -- and oversee the retail sales and service areas.

As a Morgan Stanley managing director and chief operating officer of the investment management division, Thomas held global responsibility for operations, client services, product strategy and development, performance attribution and research, business continuity and planning, and training. Previously, he worked in a variety of senior leadership roles for Bank of America, Boston Financial Services and Fidelity Investments. Thomas graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a B.A. in economics and earned an M.B.A. from Boston College.

Jackson, 59, will remain a full-time American Century employee through the end of the year as his responsibilities are transitioned over to Thomas. He will then work part time until his retirement at the end of the first quarter of 2006.

He received a Diploma-Bachelor of Arts in finance from Ryerson Polytechnical University in Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drake University in Des Moines. He also has a Master's in Business Administration from Loyola University in Chicago and has earned the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Stowers Institute for Medical Research.
