American Century Investments Named One of Computerworld Magazine's 100 Best Places to Work; Investment Firm Named Fourth on Information Technology List.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- American Century Investments has made Computerworld Magazine's list of 100 best places to work in IT. The Kansas City-based firm, which ranked fourth, is one of only four Missouri firms to make the list.

Computerworld named American Century third in terms of retention, fourth in career development and fifth in benefits. It also cited the firm's low employee turnover: only 4 percent.

The award reflects the company's commitment to its employees, according to American Century Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Bob Sauvageau. "We try to help people balance their personal and professional lives," said Sauvageau. "It's about much more than just grinding out (computer) code. We're very pleased to have received this recognition."

For the 12th consecutive year, Computerworld conducted a survey to identify the 100 Best Places to Work for IT professionals. Only companies with 2004 revenue of $250 million or greater and a minimum of 500 employees in the U.S., at least 100 of whom were U.S. IT employees, qualified to complete the 100-question survey. A total of 20,435 IT professionals responded to the employee survey from the final 100 companies selected. The survey process was managed by IDG Research.

Computerworld placed American Century ahead of firms such as FedEx, General Mills and The Vanguard Group. The entire list of companies appears in the magazine's June 27 issue.
