), the only provider of Strategic Content Management(TM) solutions, today announced that following a comprehensive evaluation of the top content management solutions available, the American Cancer Society American Cancer Society,
n.pr established in 1913, this national volunteer-based health organization is committed to the elimination of cancer through prevention and treatment and to diminishing cancer suffering through advocacy, scholarship, research,
(ACS (Asynchronous Communications Server) See network access server. ) selected Eprise Participant Server(R) to manage content contribution to its public site, Cancer.org.

With more than nine million Americans alive today having been diagnosed with cancer, the ACS Web site is an invaluable resource for cancer patients and their families. However, as the number of Web-based health information resources (1) The data and information assets of an organization, department or unit. See data administration.

its site to remain a top resource. With 16 divisions across the country, ACS required a Web content management solution that would allow local content contribution while maintaining control over a consistent editorial style and tone. For example, ACS wanted to maintain a consistent look and feel for the events section of its site while allowing ACS employees in Boston to contribute the information about the Run for Life in Boston.

"Our goals are to save lives, diminish suffering, and eliminate cancer as a major health problem. Education and information sharing See data conferencing.  are key to this effort, and the Web is a primary resource," said James Miller James Miller may refer to any of the following individuals:

director of Internet Strategy for ACS. "Cancer.org sees 175,000 visitors each month seeking the most up-to-date information about the disease, new treatments, support groups, and other information. We needed a content management solution that would allow us to maintain the integrity of the site and its information while opening the doors for our multiple divisions to contribute content. After evaluating several options, we ultimately selected Eprise Participant Server for its flexibility, ease of use, ability to distribute site administration to our business users, and rapid implementation schedule."

The ACS plans to launch the redesigned Cancer.org site in the second quarter this year. Cancer.org is a multi-faceted site, providing information about the nature of cancer, its causes and risk factors, as well as the latest strategies for prevention and early detection, new diagnostic techniques, the latest treatment options, and alternative and complementary methods. There is also important information about living with cancer, a bookstore, statistical information about cancer and links to other Web sites.

"This type of Web site has multiple contributors, and trying to manage all of those business users and all of their information can wreak wreak

Using our Strategic Content Management solution, ACS will be able to streamline the content contribution process while maintaining site consistency," said Hank Barnes, vice president of marketing at Eprise. "Eprise Participant Server will enable the local divisions of ACS to easily create, update and manage content without the need for technical assistance."
