American Cancer Society Secures Nationwide Network with WatchGuard; Implements Firebox X integrated security appliance to provide protection for 23 locations.

SEATTLE -- WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:WGRD), a leading provider of network security solutions, has announced that the American Cancer Society has selected the WatchGuard Firebox X integrated security appliance and expects to deploy it to support future growth, implement interdepartmental firewalling and enhance security across 23 locations nationwide. The organization currently uses the WatchGuard Firebox Vclass firewall/VPN appliance to fortify its primary network of 350 users, 80 percent of which are mobile workers.

Prior to deploying WatchGuard's solutions, American Cancer Society's multiple locations used different security appliances. This resulted in compatibility issues, as well as inconsistent levels of protection and scalability. Additionally, not all of the solutions were designed to support a large number of 'high-risk' remote users.

American Cancer Society evaluated several solutions, including Cisco and Check Point, before selecting WatchGuard. The organization worked with Remex Systems Group, a Kentwood, Michigan-based solution provider, to roll out the implementation.
