American Business and the Quick Fix.

The author examines many of the new approaches to management that have appeared in recent years, such as zero-based budgeting and quality circles, claiming most are fueled by a desire for a "quick fix" to deep-seated problems. He believes American managers should try to shed unrealistic expectations of themselves and the possibility of overnight improvement and settle for a slower pace of change derived from their personal experiences and an understanding of their organizations' needs. The book is useful particularly for those with management responsibility.
