American Bingo & Gaming announces acquisition of three bingo centers in Florida.AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 1995--American Bingo & Gaming Corp. (the "Company") recently announced the acquisition of three bingo centers in North Fort Myers Fort Myers, city (1990 pop. 45,206), seat of Lee co., SW Fla., on the Caloosahatchee River, near the Gulf of Mexico; founded 1850, inc. 1905. It has a tourist trade and light industry and is a shipping point for citrus fruits, winter vegetables, flowers (especially , Murdock and Bradenton, Fla., respectively. The company has retained Florida counsel in response to a civil complaint filed on Nov. 6, 1995 by the State of Florida against two of these bingo centers. The company is seeking to immediately lift a temporary injunction temporary injunction n. a court order prohibiting an action by a party to a lawsuit until there has been a trial or other court action. A temporary injunction differs from a "temporary restraining order" which is a short-term, stop-gap injunction issued pending a issued November 6 by the Manatee County Circuit Court against the conduct of bingo games at all three Florida locations as well as a restraint on approximately $140,000 of Bingo revenues. The civil complaint filed on November 6, 1995 alleges that the operations of the bingo centers violated relevant Florida statutes The Florida Statutes are the codified, statutory laws of the state of Florida. The laws are approved by the Florida Legislature, and signed into law by the Governor of Florida. as well as the Florida RICO RICO n. . Act. The State of Florida primarily seeks to prohibit the future conduct of illegal bingo games and a money judgement in the amount of any illegally obtained funds.
