American Bankers Insurance Group Inc. announces new chief executive officer.
Gaston will assume his new responsibility effective Jan. 1, 1996. Gaston succeeds R. Kirk Landon as chief executive officer. Landon will continue as chairman of the board. Landon has held the title of chief executive officer since American Bankers Insurance Group's inception in 1980.
Gaston will focus on utilizing the current strong management team, with its broad base of experience, to take the company into the future. He will continue to insure that our efforts are focused on obtaining controlled competitive advantages. These efforts will result in a series of solutions to solidify the infrastructure, provide faster more efficient service, and increase shareholder value.
Gaston will remain president and vice chairman of the board. He joined American Bankers Life Assurance Company of Florida (ABLAC) and American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida (ABIC) in 1977 as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Outside board seats include being a member of the board of trustees and vice chairman of Loyola University, New Orleans and a director of Intercontinental Bank, Miami. He received his B.S. from Nicholls State University in 1959, and his M.B.A. from Loyola University of the South in 1965.
