American Bancorp of Nevada announces stock split.


LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 1995--American Bancorp of Nevada Nevada (nəvăd`ə, –vä–), far western state of the United States. It is bordered by Utah (E), Arizona (SE), California (SW, W), and Oregon and Idaho (N). , parent corporation for American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of  Bank of Commerce, Tuesday Tuesday: see week.  announced a four-for-three stock split.

The stock split is based on shareholders of record on April 4, 1995, and will be paid on April 11, 1995.

In announcing the split, Claudine B. Williams, chairwoman of the board, stated the growth and profitability of the bank caused the stock price to increase over the past year. She also indicated the recent listing of the Bancorp stock on the Nasdaq National Market will increase the outstanding shares available to trade.

"We are very pleased with the performance of the bank and wish to share its success with our fellow shareholders," she said.

Total assets at the end of 1994 were $227,419,000 with net income of $3,314,000. This compares with 1993 year-end assets and net income of $210,463,000 and $2,307,000, respectively. Total shareholder equity at the end of 1994 was $20,131,000.

American Bank of Commerce, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Bancorp of Nevada, was founded in 1979 to serve businesses and professionals in Southern Nevada. The bank has four offices in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

American Bancorp of Nevada is publicly traded on the Nasdaq National Market System under the symbol ABCN ABCN American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology  and is listed in local newspaper financial listings as AmBcpNV.
