APAC Adapted Physical Activity Council (American Alliance for Health) 
 is a council within the American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR)--the newest association of AAHPERD AAHPERD American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance  (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance). The Council, which was previously a part of the American Association for Active Lifestyles and Fitness (AAALF AAALF American Association for Active Lifestyles and Fitness ), focused on providing continuing education continuing education: see adult education.

The merger of AAALF and the American Association for Leisure and Recreation (AALR AALR American Association for Leisure and Recreation

) will promote the expansion of focus for APAC to look beyond the walls of the school building into the community. Activities in the past have included adapted sport programs, but the mission of AAPAR embraces community-based programs and clearly encourages support of professionals working in transition and community programs, as well as those working in schools. AAPAR's Adapted Physical Activity Council promotes both practical and theoretical endeavors in the areas of physical activity, recreation, and sport for individuals with disabilities that will lead to active lifestyles and healthful health·ful

The Council advocates and encourages programs, policies, standards, and research that will positively affect opportunities for physical activity and recreation available to individuals with disabilities. Through this Council, AAPAR promotes excellence in professional practices and preparation by sponsoring presentations and activities designed to foster the professional growth of practitioners working with individuals with disabilities in schools and communities. The Council also seeks to provide a unified base for cooperative interdisciplinary services for individuals with disabilities.

There will be many innovative and new ideas "New Ideas" is the debut single by Scottish New Wave/Indie Rock act The Dykeenies. Council Chair-Elect: 4-year commitment, 2 years as elect; 2 years as chair; duties include--

* Serve on the Council Executive Committee

* Serve as Chairperson of the Council Nominating Committee A nominating committee is a group formed usually from inside the membership of an organization for the purpose of nominating candidates for office within the organization. It works similarly to an electoral college, the main difference being that the available candidates, either  

* Assume duties of the Chairperson in the event of absence, resignation, or death

Council Secretary: 2-year commitment; duties include--

* Serve on the Council Executive Committee

* Record official minutes of all meetings of the Council

* On at least an annual basis submit to the Association newsletter information concerning current activities, projects, etc., of the Council.

Council Member at Large: 2-year commitment; duties include--

* Serve on the Council Executive Committee

* Compile material for newsletters

* Report activities from other related organizations
